Seven short answers. Each one points to the clause that gives the detail.

Summary of what the website keeps, sends and collects
QuestionShort answerClause
Does the website set cookies?Yes, one. It is set when you watch the Welcome film to its end or press Skip Cinematic. On your next visit it shows a Skip Cinematic button and keeps the cookie notice from showing again. No advertising, analytics or tracking cookie.2.2
Does it track or profile visitors? No. It contains no analytics, advertising or profiling code. The one cookie above remembers a single choice; it does not track anything you do.2.3
What does it keep on my device?Three settings in your browser's local memory (your light or dark theme, your sound choice, and that you accepted the Welcome page's notice), and the one cookie above.2.2
Which other services receive my details?A web font service and a public code delivery network receive your IP address and browser details when your browser fetches typefaces and animation code. A registration is stored by a third-party hosting provider and sent to no one else.2.4
What does registering collect?Your full name and work email. Your IP address, browser user agent and the time you register are recorded automatically. Name and email are used only for waitlist communication; IP address and user agent only for abuse prevention.2.5
Where is my registration stored? With a third-party hosting provider. It is sent over an encrypted connection and closed to the public. Each email address is held to one registration.2.5
What is still undecided? The full Terms of Service.2.9

Privacy Policy

Draft. This part describes what the website does today, page by page. The final policy replaces it before early access opens.

2.1

Scope and responsibility

This policy covers the six pages of the Sonarae website: Welcome, Home, Our Team, Register, FAQ and Privacy & Terms. Sonarae is software in development, built by Sonny Rosas, a solo developer based in Colorado.

The business responsible for registration details is Sonarae, entity formation pending. Sonarae is the software's name; its formal business entity has not yet been formed. Until it is, Sonny Rosas, the site's sole developer, holds that responsibility directly, reachable the same way as any other privacy request (clause 2.13).

2.2

What the website keeps on your device

The website uses your browser's local memory for three settings, and sets one cookie. All four are used only by the website's own code on your device; no server reads, stores or passes on any of them.

Table 1. Items kept in local memory.
ItemPagesHoldsPurposeKept

The website also sets one cookie, sonarae-skip-intro, when you watch the Welcome film to its end or press Skip Cinematic. It holds nothing beyond that single fact and expires after a year. A cookie, unlike local memory, is included automatically in every request your browser makes to this website, but this one is read only by the Welcome page's own code on your device, to show a Skip Cinematic button and a short note on your next visit, and to keep the cookie and local memory notice from showing again; the film itself still plays. No server-side code reads it, uses it, or sends it anywhere further.

The Welcome page plays its film on every visit, whether or not that cookie is set. While it loads, the page holds its images in memory so it can show a progress count. Nothing extra is written to your device.

2.3

What the website does not do

  • It sets one functional cookie, only to remember that you have seen the Welcome film (clause 2.2); it sets no advertising, analytics or tracking cookie of any kind.
  • It runs no analytics and keeps no usage or visit statistics.
  • It shows no advertising and has no advertising partners.
  • It does not fingerprint your browser or device.
  • It asks for no account, password or payment details.
  • It never uses your microphone, camera or location.

The ambient sound on the Welcome page is generated inside your browser. No audio file is downloaded.

2.4

What other companies receive

Loading a page means your browser makes requests to servers other than Sonarae's. Each service below receives ordinary request details and handles them under its own policy.

Table 2. Services that receive request details.
RecipientReceivesWhyPages

A public code delivery networkYour IP address, browser details and the files requested.Delivers the animation code these pages use. On the Welcome page it is contacted only when the film plays, never for the page's static screen.Welcome, Home, Our Team, Register

The Gloock headline typeface is served from this website, not from a third party. The website sends none of your registration entries to these services: a registration goes only to the website's own systems, which store it with the hosting provider (clause 2.12).

2.5

What you give when you register

Table 3. What a registration holds, and how each item is checked or used.
ItemRequiredChecked or used
Full nameYesAt least two characters.
Work emailYesA valid address at any standard domain. Addresses at known disposable email services are refused.
Terms of Service and Privacy PolicyYesThe box is ticked. A registration is refused without it; the tick itself is not stored separately.
Email updates about Sonarae's development and releaseYesThe box is ticked. Refused without it in the same way.
IP addressAutomaticNot shown to you. Captured with the registration for abuse prevention only.
Browser and device informationAutomaticNot shown to you. Your browser's user agent string (the name and version it reports), recorded with the registration for abuse prevention.
Time of registrationAutomaticNot shown to you. The date and time your entry is stored.

Your name and email are used solely for waitlist communication: to confirm your place and to send the updates you agreed to once those emails are enabled. Your IP address and user agent are used solely for abuse prevention. Nothing else about your visit is sent with a registration.

A registration is sent over an encrypted connection and stored by a third-party hosting provider, closed to public access. Your email address is stored in lowercase. The confirmation you see appears only after your entry has been stored; if your address was already on the list, the entry you made first is kept and you see the same confirmation. Automated confirmation emails are paused while Sonarae is in development. A registration is kept until you ask for it to be deleted (clause 2.13) or until Sonarae's full product launches, whichever comes first; either way the entry is then removed.

2.6

Your choices

  • Change the theme with the sun and moon button and the sound with the Sound button. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes all three settings and the cookie, and the Welcome page's notice then shows again.
  • Read every page without registering.
  • Block third-party requests with a content blocker. Pages then fall back to system typefaces, and the Welcome page shows its static version: a flat print of the film's opening that moves with the page's own styles, the film's words written out, and the same two links. The content is the same.
  • Turn on reduced motion in your system settings. The Welcome page then shows the same static version with the print held still, and its Play the film anyway link plays the film for that one visit. Nothing about that choice is stored.
  • Browse with JavaScript turned off. Every page still works, the registration form included (clause 2.5); only the Welcome page's film needs it.
  • Ask for your registration to be deleted, or stop future emails, at any time (clause 2.13).
2.7

Security

Registrations travel over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) and are stored by a third-party hosting provider, with access restricted to the website's own systems. No system connected to the internet is perfectly secure, and Sonarae cannot guarantee that your details will never be accessed without permission (clause 3.7). The pages themselves hold no personal data.

2.8

Who the website is for

Sonarae is business software for people who run outbound sales on local business data. You must be at least 16 years old to register for the early access list. Sonarae does not knowingly collect registration details from anyone younger than that; if you believe someone under 16 has registered, contact privacy@sonarae.net and the entry is removed.

2.9

Decisions still open

This draft is now current on storage, retention, hosting, minimum age, the responsible business and how to request deletion. What remains open is published here before early access opens; until then this draft does not describe it, because it does not exist.

Changes to this policy

This is Draft 1.7. Every change is recorded in the change log with its date.

2.11

Accessibility statement

Sonarae is built to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA as a target. No formal accessibility audit has been run yet, so this states what the site does, not a certified result.

  • Keyboard: every page is fully usable with a keyboard alone. A Skip to content link is the first stop on every page, reached with one press of Tab. Focus order follows the visual order, and every interactive control shows a visible focus outline.
  • Structure: pages use semantic landmarks, a header, one main region, navigation and a footer, with headings ordered so a screen reader's heading list matches the page's own structure.
  • Color and contrast: the ink-on-paper palette, and its inverse in dark mode, targets a contrast ratio of at least 4.5 to 1 for body text and 3 to 1 for large text.
  • Motion: turning on reduced motion in your system settings removes the Welcome page's film and every scroll-triggered or entrance animation on the other pages; the same content shows immediately instead. The Welcome page writes the film out as text and offers to play it anyway, and says why it is not playing.
  • Without JavaScript: every page works, the registration form included; your browser checks the form's required fields and the server checks every entry again.
  • Images: every meaningful image carries descriptive alt text, and purely decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers.

Report an accessibility problem to privacy@sonarae.net, the same address clause 2.13 gives for every other privacy request.

2.12

Hosting and logs

The website is served by third-party hosting providers, which process registrations only to run this service.

For security and abuse prevention only: a registration's IP address, time and browser user agent are stored with the registration itself (clause 2.5, Table 3). The hosting providers also keep their own short-lived technical logs of requests. A page load that is not a registration writes nothing to any of these, and none of them uses a cookie. Nothing here changes clause 2.3: no fingerprinting, and no usage or visit statistics kept for the website as a whole. The one cookie this website does set is described in clause 2.2 and has nothing to do with these records.

No other company, advertiser or automation service receives a registration.

2.13

Contact, and how to withdraw consent or request deletion

privacy@sonarae.net is the one address for a bug report, a technical issue, a concern about the website, a request to delete your registration, and any legal inquiry. It is monitored strictly for technical and compliance purposes, not for general questions about Sonarae the product; for those, the Our Team page has a separate direct address.

Withdraw your consent to email updates, or ask for your registration to be deleted entirely, by emailing that address from the one you registered with. A form for making the same request directly on the website is planned; this clause is updated when it is available.

Either way, a request is confirmed and the matching entry is removed if one exists. Sonarae does not confirm or deny to anyone else whether a given address is on the early access list: the Register page shows the same confirmation whether an address is new or already registered.

Terms of Service

Draft. The full terms are published before early access opens. These clauses state only what already holds.

3.1

The early access list

Registering adds your name and work email to the early access list. It does not grant access to Sonarae, which is in development.

3.2

What registering does not promise

Registering does not reserve a licence, a price, a place in a queue or a release date. None of these has been announced.

3.3

Figures and descriptions

Coverage, batch and other figures on this website are launch targets, not measurements. Descriptions say what the software is being built to do. Sample records and checked targets are synthetic and labelled so.

3.4

Your entries

Enter your own name and a work or primary email address that you can read. The form rejects addresses from disposable email services.

3.5

Email updates

Registering includes consent to email updates about Sonarae's development and release, including its pricing once that is set. Withdraw that consent at any time (clause 2.13).

3.6

The website

The website is a preview of a product in development. Pages, wording and features may change.

3.7

No warranty and limitation of liability

Sonarae has not been released. There is no live service, and nothing on this website is an offer, commitment or guarantee of any product, feature, price, release date, performance, availability, support or service level. Do not rely on anything here to make a business decision.

The website, the early access list and any description of the software are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express, implied or statutory, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, security, or uninterrupted or error-free operation. Sonarae and Sonny Rosas (clause 2.1) guarantee nothing at this stage.

To the fullest extent the law allows, neither Sonarae nor Sonny Rosas is liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, revenue, profit or business, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the website or the early access list, whether the claim is framed as a breach of contract, a tort, negligence or any other legal theory. Total liability for all claims of any kind is limited to the amount you have paid Sonarae, which for the early access list is nothing. Nothing in this clause excludes a liability that the law does not allow to be excluded.

This is a first draft of this clause, reviewed alongside the rest of this section before early access opens (clause 3.8).

3.8

Not yet written

Governing law, acceptable use, intellectual property and how the terms change are not yet written. They are added to the full terms after legal review.
